Hurkey Creek 2006
Our 2006 Hurkey Creek camping trip was just what we hoped: a chance to unwind from our daily lives and re-connect with our families, which included the Lissebeck Family, the Harvick Family, Sandy's Family(the Mills), Oma & Opa, and a special day appearance by Tante Flora, Omm Jan, and Ingrid's kids: Sophia & Lucas. We were so lucky to be able to stay 4 nights this year and it certainly added a great day of fun. We took advantage of the extra day by renting a boat and trying the kids out with fishing! Unfortunately we didn't catch a thing and Rylie was very upset that the fish were so smart that they knew we were trying to trick them by putting a worm on a hook. Gavin was extremely patient on the boat - especialy for a 2 1/2 year old who for alomst the entire trip was hitting golf balls in the meadow better than everyone (other than his dad of course). Other daily activities included playing in the creek, riding bikes, water gun and water balloon fights, and of course cooking and eating great camping meals. A roaring campfire and overcooked marshmallows ended our days and cold nights became an almost distant memory thanks to the purchase of a tent heater (flameless of course - isn't technology great!) I know my dad has some great pictures and will be including them on the blog shortly. We hope to hear about all your summer vacation adventures soon!
